The Government has recently announced a two-month extension to the Help to Buy practical completion deadline.

The deadline for practical completion of Help to Buy properties has been extended following growing pressure from the housebuilding industry. The deadline for practical completion of homes being sold under the Help to Buy scheme was originally planned for 31 December 2020, however, this has now been extended until 28 February 2021 to account for delays to construction as a result of COVID-19.

The deadline for legal completion remains 31 March 2021, however, there is scope for Homes England to provide further extensions where there have been severe delays as a result of coronavirus, in which case legal completion may be delayed until 31 May 2021 on a discretionary basis.
