Gateley Hamer has expanded its team on the back of a record year of growth.

The company, which has expertise in wayleaves and easements as well as compulsory purchase and compensation, achieved record turnover and record profit levels in 2015/16. That success has seen the team expand from ten to 12, as well as the opening of a new office in Bristol and several members of the team obtaining professional accreditations.

Richard Marston and Taryn Clark have joined the company as the firm looks to expand further during the 2016/17 financial year.

Richard has joined from SSE where he ‘sat on the other side of the fence’ as he acted for the firm in getting permission for new infrastructure. Part of his role at Gateley Hamer will be to help clients get that type of infrastructure diverted or removed.

He said: “I’ve only been here a couple of months but I am already working on some very interesting cases. It’s a very exciting time for the company as it expands and it was the perfect role for me to move into.”

Taryn has moved to the company after 13 years at Ellis May Chartered Loss Adjusters as the PA to Charles Hamer and Jonathan Stott.

She said: “It’s a really good company to work for and I am looking forward to being part of the team as the business continues to grow.”

Gateley Hamer’ success in 2015/16 saw the company achieve a range of successes. More than £50million worth of compensation claims were settled by the firm, which was highly commended in the property category at the Birmingham Post Awards.

The company also received instructions from more than 20 companies affected by HS2 as well as giving evidence at the HS2 Select Committee.

Managing director Jonathan Stott said: “We are very pleased to welcome Richard and Taryn to our growing team.

“Last year was a record breaker for the company and we are looking to go even better in 2016/17 and it will need a real team effort to surpass those achievements.

“We’ve recently won major long-term instructions in Leeds, Leicester, Anglia and London, providing a strong foundation for further sustained growth.”

In addition to increasing the size of the team Gateley Hamer’ commitment to training and development is also paying dividends.  Congratulations are in order for several members of the team on achieving accreditations recently, including:

  • Ben Caldwell passed the APC to gain full member status of the RICS
  • Sam Blaize achieved AssocRICS status
  • Chanine Saunders became an accredited member of the Chartered Management Institute
  • Jonathan Stott qualified as a RICS accredited Expert Witness

Stott said “These recent achievements are thoroughly deserved and they are a reflection of our ongoing commitment to learning and development, which is one of our key company values.”
