Birmingham Big Art Project

The Birmingham Big Art Foundation was established in 2014 with the aim of commissioning an internationally significant landmark public artwork for Birmingham that could support and expand the idea of a 21st century city, and the role of innovative art in making it great. In 2016 they launched an open art competition and in 2017 announced that the winning artist was Susan Philipsz with her proposal of a large-scale aural artwork based on the 12 tones of the chromatic scale. ‘Station Clock’ will be a ground-level artwork in front of the HS2 terminal building at Curzon Street and is due to open by 2027.
