Pragmatic approach, delivering realistic recommendations and solutions

The breadth of our Pensions expertise is first rate. We cut through the complexity to deliver consistently excellent client service, plus practical advice that puts you in control.

Pensions can be complex. But that doesn’t mean they have to be confusing. Our highly experienced team has a well-deserved reputation for doing things a little differently – to deliver an exceptional level of client service that’s really valued.

Whatever the size or value of a pension scheme, you’ll find we genuinely care about your business and helping you to identify the best solution for your specific needs.

We pride ourselves on our proactive and pragmatic approach, and our ability to explore alternative options and find realistic solutions, rather than simply writing essays on the law. Some of our clients have historical problems with their pension schemes and were told there’s nothing they can do. We’re happy to break the mould by explaining any associated risks and then recommending to clients different courses of action that it would be reasonable for them to consider taking.

We’re forward-thinking and responsive, bringing in-depth understanding of issues and potential pitfalls. Our enduring commercial focus means that we present our advice and recommendations clearly and concisely, to save you time and trouble. And it’s all delivered in an efficient and cost-effective way, despite the senior-level input of hands-on partner involvement in our day-to-day work.

The vast majority of our work involves advising trustees and employers about issues affecting the running of their pension schemes. We also support other teams within the firm on any transactions that may have pension scheme issues, and handle pensions-related litigation when things go wrong.

In addition, we run an independent trustee company, Entrust Ltd, which is responsible for the administration of corporate and industry-wide pension schemes. Although our policy is that we don’t provide trustee and legal advice services to the same client, our experience acting as trustees means that we understand what it’s like to have to make decisions as a client. Our legal expertise enables us to offer in-depth insight into all the issues involved, and we also know how advisers work – and how to get the best out of them. So as trustees, we bring additional expertise and valued advice – not just another layer of cost.

We have particular experience in dealing with pensions schemes in the manufacturing, retail and financial services sectors. Our clients include Macmillan Publishers, retail group AS Watson and Britax.
