Based in Selly Park, Birmingham, Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice provides care for terminally ill patients and their families.
Staff in the Birmingham office have taken part in all sorts of activities this year to help raise funds. In October, a team of runners and cyclists took part in the first every ‘Gateley Biathlon’. The biathlon involved runners completing the Birmingham Half Marathon one weekend before handing the baton over to a team of cyclists who completed a 21 mile bike ride around Sherwood Forest, Nottingham the next. A total of £1,000.80 was raised which will pay for hours of palliative care at the hospice.
Recently, senior partner Mike Ward was joined by other partners from the Birmingham office in making and serving staff cocktails. A great evening was had by all and Theresa Meek from Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice came along to judge the cocktail making competition.
The end of the fundraising year was marked with a spring lunch. Staff made donations in return for a ticket to the lunch which proved to be a huge success!
Theresa Meek thanked Gateley for its fundraising efforts this year: “The support from all of the staff has been marvellous and it’s support like this that changes peoples’ lives.”
