Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022

Insight shared by:

Gateley Hamer

We’re advising Birmingham City Council on the assembly of land to build the athletes village and supporting infrastructure for the 2022 Commonwealth Games, including providing early strategic advice to the Council on the compulsory purchase process.

We prepared a Property Cost Estimate for the acquisition of properties required for the scheme, and liaised with the Council’s housing team, providing guidance on a rehousing strategy. Currently, we’re managing the acquisition programme of properties on behalf of the Council. This includes liaising with landowners and affected parties, and negotiating offers to purchase the properties and settle any compensation claims.
