Leamington Spa lawyer appointed to London FA panel
A lawyer from Leamington Spa has been invited to sit as an independent member on the London Football Association (LFA) disciplinary panel.
Fiona Rudge works for Gateley Legal as a Commerce, Media and Technology solicitor, working on commercial contracts and data protection for clients such a leading sportswear brand Gymshark.
The LFA is the largest of the County Football Associations and its panel decides on whether football-related incidents are chargeable or not, handing out sentences in accordance with guidelines.
Many incidents are where a player, coach or manager has acted outside the rules of the game and can be issued with fines, ground or match bans and penalty points being issued to the football club.
Fiona commented: "I attended a conference on achieving gender equality in sports and met an FA non-executive director who assisted me with my application. Having met with the FA disciplinary team, participated in a training programme and passed an examination, I was thrilled to be appointed to the panel. I’m really excited about the opportunity to combine my two passions of law and sport.
“Although an interest in sport or law isn’t mandatory to be on the panel, I’m looking forward to putting my solicitor experience into practice during the hearings. It’s also good news for Gateley Legal, as I’ll have a new platform to showcase our expertise in this sector."
