Our specialist property consultancy, Gateley Hamer has expanded its team with the appointments of Head of Infrastructure Development, Ian Cunliffe, Associate Claire Jones and Graduate Surveyor Sam Dobney.

Ian joins from compulsory purchase and compensation specialists, Ardent Management, where he was a Director and managed a large portfolio of infrastructure projects. Prior to this, he was Senior Acquisition Manager at HS2 Ltd, leading an acquisition team on the largest section of Phase 1 of the railway. Before joining HS2 Ltd, Ian previously worked for EDF Energy on the promotion and land assembly of Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C nuclear power plants and was also an Associate Director with BNP Paribas’ Development Agency team.

Claire joins from Mole Valley District Council where she was a Principal Estates Surveyor and prior to that, she was a Senior Surveyor at Bruton Knowles. Claire is Gateley Hamer’s first hire into Gateley Group’s new Guildford offices and her role will primarily focus on Gateley Hamer’s telecoms operation.

Sam joins Gateley Hamer’s compulsory purchase team from Glenny LLP where he spent two years working on regeneration and housing projects in and around London.

Ian said: “Joining Gateley Hamer and establishing a new Infrastructure Development team is an exciting opportunity and I am very much looking forward to further expanding the team and building on Gateley Hamer’s existing relationships as well as developing new ones.”

Jonathan Stott, Managing Director, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Ian, Claire and Sam to the team on the back of some fantastic new instructions across the utilities, housing and infrastructure sectors. From six surveyors in Birmingham in 2016 to a current team of 20 fee earners across four offices, we’ve enjoyed significant growth since joining the Gateley Group, and attracted some of the UK’s leading talent.

“Ian’s role as Head of Infrastructure Development will allow us to provide clients with market-leading advice to support the promotion and implementation of nationally significant infrastructure projects throughout the UK.  We’re already advising clients on energy, road, rail and commercial Development Consent Orders and whatever happens in the political environment it is clear that UK plc must continue to invest in infrastructure. Through Ian’s team we now offer a dedicated service to advise developers through all land and property aspects of the consenting process.”

Gateley Hamer is regulated by RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors)
