The Guildford office of Gateley Legal has advised Inland Homes on the acquisition of a 36.7-acre Cavalry Barracks site in Hounslow, London.

The £600m scheme is Inland Homes’ largest deal to date, with plans to transform the military barracks into a residential-led mixed use development of over 1,000 homes.

The site contains 14 Grade II listed buildings and 19 locally listed buildings with over 440 existing residential units.

The land also benefits from an adopted development brief and Inland Homes will be submitting a planning application for the new homes within the next six months.

Commenting on the deal, chief executive officer for Inland Homes, Stephen Wicks said: “This was a complex transaction, dealing with a government agency on a historic site.”

Tony Inkin, managing partner and head of Gateley Legal’s Guildford office, commented: “We’re really pleased to have advised Inland Homes on this huge acquisition and development particularly in such challenging times.

“The team and I are excited to have played a part in helping to provide more housing for this popular London borough.”

The Gateley Legal team also included residential development partner James Lawrence, senior associate Sara Moosavi and solicitor Imran Choudhary, in addition to corporate partner Chris Dunn and banking partner Jacob Robinson.

Gateley Legal boasts the biggest Residential Development team in the UK, acting for 18 of the top 20 housebuilders.
