We have exceeded our fundraising target and raised just under £16,000 for Help for Heroes by hosting cycling sportive ‘Tour de Gateley’.

The ride saw members of the team and a selection of clients and professional contacts, alongside other teams from across the firm’s national network, cycle to every Gateley Plc office in England, covering 350 miles in total as well as some tough ascents across the country.

Commencing in London, the challenge took place over five days, visiting the Reading, Birmingham, Leicester, Nottingham and Manchester offices, and finishing at Gateley Plc’s Leeds office.

A small core team of riders completed the full distance: Emlyn Hudson and Patrick Kennedy from Manchester, Brendan McGeever from London, Mark Metcalfe from Reading, Pauline Munro and George Parker-Fuller from Leeds, and Nigel Payne, chairman of Gateley Plc. Others joined in at their local office leg, covering 70 miles a day on average.

Emlyn Hudson, Construction partner, commented: “It’s incredibly important to support our wounded soldiers, sailors and airmen, as well as their families, once they return from combat zones. Help for Heroes provides such an important and worthwhile service, which I know strikes a chord with many of us at Gateley and we’re delighted to have exceeded our target of £10,000 for the charity.”

45 members of staff took part in ‘Tour de Gateley’ as well as more than 40 clients and contacts.
