Kelan practices in both contentious and non-contentious construction law. 

Whilst working as an attorney in South Africa, Kelan has gained extensive experience in many different forms of construction contracts such as FIDIC, NEC, JBCC (South African) as well as bespoke contracts. 

Kelan’s experience includes contract risk review, contract drafting, alternative dispute resolution proceedings (mediation, adjudication and arbitration) as well as court litigation.

How do you help clients?

I help clients at all stages of construction projects ranging from contract review to dispute resolution.


  1. Part of the legal team representing a subcontractor in international arbitration proceedings regarding its involvement in the refurbishment of a power plant in Botswana.
  2. Part of the legal team representing a subcontractor in multiple alternative dispute resolution proceedings arising from the erection of two major power plants in South Africa.
  3. Advising an engineering consultancy firm in mediation proceedings between it and the Employer (a municipality) arising from contractual and legislative interpretation.
