Monica works in all aspects of contentious insolvency matters. She acts for insolvency practitioners in relation to various recovery actions including tax avoidance, antecedent transactions and misfeasance by directors. She also has experience of cross-border matters involving Anguilla and Cyprus. 

Monica also advises clients at the investigatory stage of matters, assisting in the identification of potential claims and the preparation of interim applications for the preservation of documentation and assets. 


  1. Acting for joint liquidators in relation to claims for breach of duty and antecedent transactions arising out of the use of an unlawful tax scheme.
  2. Acting for trustees in bankruptcy in relation to a claim for a transaction at an undervalue arising out of a group company restructure, where the bankrupt was imprisoned in a different jurisdiction. 
  3. Acting for the liquidator of a major commercial airline company in the recovery of outstanding debts.
  4. Advising clients on the creditor’s winding up petition procedure, including that of dissolved and unregistered overseas companies which involved complex bona vacantia and service considerations.
