Responding quickly to real estate investment opportunities is essential.

We act for funds, institutional landlords and private investors on the purchase, funding, management and disposal of commercial property. Whether it’s a first investment or adding to a growing portfolio, we help clients realise the potential of their investment throughout the lifecycle of a real estate asset.

What do we do?

Our clients rely on us to get to the heart of a real estate investment proposal quickly, identifying potential issues and solutions to those issues.

We are experts at advising on acquisitions and have a wide range of complementary services across our large legal team in construction, planning, banking, tax and corporate structuring, all of which combine to create a fully inclusive and project managed service from a single partner point of contact.

We appreciate that every asset is different, and that our clients have their own internal requirements to assess risk and value. We spend time at the outset to understand objectives for the asset and our clients’ intentions on how to achieve best value from the real estate investment. All investment transactions are project managed by senior lawyers to maintain the quality of advice clients would expect.

Tax treatment and investment vehicles

We can advise on the best way to fund and structure a real estate investment and on the most appropriate vehicle to hold the asset to ensure that it is as tax efficient as possible. Our real estate team is regularly supported by experts in real estate finance, corporate, banking and tax.

Take advantage of real estate investment tax reliefs

There are a number of tax incentives available for owners who incur expenditure on real estate. They include various capital allowances and land remediation relief. Many owners fail to claim these incentives or reliefs and end up paying more tax than they need to as a result.

Our incentives consultancy team, Gateley Capitus, help clients to understand how such incentives work within real estate investment and if their investments qualify.

Broad property practice advising a variety of clients, including a number of developers, investors and occupiers…A client comments: ‘The firm is proactive and professional. The lawyers and support staff are helpful, responsive and keep us regularly informed’.
