Expertise

Kady advises on both contentious, non-contentious and surety aspects of construction law in connection with major construction, infrastructure and energy projects across the UK.

How do you help clients?

I represent a range of clients including housebuilders, developers, funders, end user occupiers, main contractors, consultants and specialist sub-contractors covering contract structuring, drafting, and negotiations to ensure a robust legal foundation for construction projects.

My focus extends to handling building and engineering disputes such as payment issues, claims for variations, extensions of time, loss, expense, and professional negligence as well as claims relating to defective design and workmanship. Throughout the project’s lifecycle, I excel in dispute resolution, arbitration and litigation, offering strategic guidance to resolve conflicts efficiently.

Additionally I possess extensive knowledge offering dedicated support to UK sureties by advising on any bond calls that may arise and providing support to sureties in the recovery process, ensuring a strategic and efficient approach to protect their interests.

Experience

  1. Successfully defending adjudication proceedings against an UK contractor;
  2. Acting for a number of leading UK sureties with a cumulative bond exposure exceeding £50 million;
  3. Acting for a national main contractor against an employer in a ‘smash and grab’ adjudication arising from the employer’s failure to issue payment/pay less notices.
