What is the STEAMhouse incubator?

Situated in the heart of Birmingham in the extensively redeveloped Belmont Works, Birmingham City University’s STEAMhouse incubator offers state of the art co-working space and high quality business support. It forms part of STEAMhouse, a large-scale collaboration and maker space set up to support local start-ups/ spin-outs from ideation through to implementation.

STEAMhouse is an organisation driving innovation and research for major long-term growth across the West Midlands region. Set up in early 2018, STEAMhouse supports students, graduates and local start-ups to develop exciting new ideas and products, bringing amazing new ideas to life.

Why are we collaborating with the STEAMhouse incubator?

  • To support and be part of an organisation driving innovation and research for major long-term growth across Birmingham, a region with which we have a particularly strong connection.
  • STEAMhouse is driving innovation, bringing inventors, entrepreneurs, businesses and craftspeople together to develop exciting new ideas and products; an initiative that closely aligns with our forward-thinking values.
  • We see this as an ideal match, with both ourselves and STEAMhouse focused on offering advice and support that is clear, straightforward, and easy to put into practice.

What is a business incubator?

Also known as start-up incubators, they offer people the support they need to turn their business idea into a reality.

Business incubators provide access to facilities, leading business expertise and opportunities to network and build new contacts. They provide personal workstation, digital connectivity, expert guidance, business mentoring and a company address.

Some start-up incubators give you access to business workshops, additional training and introduce you to small business funding opportunities.
