Expertise

Geri is a chartered structural engineer with over 25 years’ experience of designing and refurbishing buildings for clients including developers, architects, insurance loss adjusters and private individuals. She advises on a diverse range of structural issues relating to buildings and general construction, including new build, refurbishment and insurance claims. She is experienced in producing expert witness reports, and has assisted in disputes relating to subsidence, structural failure and repair.

How do you help clients?

I help a variety of clients design new projects or refurbish existing buildings with compliant, cost effective solutions.

I assist insurers and loss adjusters assess the cause of damage in various insured peril situations and suggest practical solutions for stabilisation and repair or reconstruction.

I advise solicitors on structural matters within legal disputes providing an expert opinion on causes of failure and structural risk.

Experience

1. Led the design team in the live refurbishment and extension of Rotherham Hospital.
2. Advised the insurers recovery team on the extent of damage following an impact into an A-road bridge.
3. Assisted the emergency response team in temporary supporting a number of residential properties following an explosion.
4. Provided advice to solicitors as an expert witness on damage to structure above a neighbouring property.
5. Assisted property owners repair their fire damaged listed building, by designing a new roof and other structural elements.
