All of us at Gateley were saddened to hear the news that on Thursday 7 July 2022, Toni Vitale, a partner, colleague and friend in our IPCT team in London passed away suddenly. Our thoughts and heart-felt condolences are with Toni’s wife Sue, his two daughters and the rest of the family.

Toni joined Gateley in March 2021 and was a well-liked and highly regarded colleague within the team in which he worked and throughout the wider Group. He had a brilliant legal career and was a highly experienced and excellent lawyer specialising in international data protection laws and technology transactions.

Toni started his career in private practice at Lewis Silkin and over the years worked within firms including DLA Piper, Clyde & Co, Addleshaw Goddard, Winckworth Sherwood and JMW. Toni also held a number of in-house positions as General Counsel, Head of Legal and Company Secretary at IBM (where he was EMEA Data Privacy Counsel), Virgin Media, YouView TV and BGL Group (owners of comparethemarket.com) and Global Privacy Counsel at Willis Towers Watson.

Toni will be missed by all of those who knew him at Gateley and his clients and contacts. He was a pleasure to work with, a real team player and above all a true gentleman. We will all remember fondly the time we got to spend with him as part of our Gateley team.
