Expertise

Having previously worked at multi-disciplinary consultancy Byrom Clark Roberts, the Ministry of Defence based at RAF Cranwell and local authorities such as Hull City Council and Leeds City Council, Robert has built up extensive experience in his career to date, and he continues to build on this within Gateley Smithers Purslow’s Building Consultancy team.

He has worked with both private and public sector clients, providing a full range of building surveying services such as contract administration, party wall matters, condition surveys, full building surveys, quinquennials, and defect diagnosis.

How do you help clients?

I help clients by writing specific defect reports and enjoy identifying the problematic areas and advising a solution to remedy.

I help clients with design and contract administration services by project managing the claim to a successful conclusion. I enjoy this as it is rewarding seeing homeowners return to their homes.

I help clients by instructing site investigations to determine the cause of subsidence damage which I find enjoyable.

Experience

1. Advising on party wall advice on many areas of the Party Wall etc Act 1996 to clients who have appointed him and advice with queries prior to appointment.
2. Assisting and advised a homeowner with private works during insurance repairs that required immediate attention following areas of the property being condemned by building control as it did not meet building regulations and was in a poor state of repair and condition.
3. Assisted and advised a homeowner during the insurance repairs phase with private tanking works. He advised them to appoint a tanking specialist and guide them through the process to meet building regulations. Robert prepared u value calculations for the homeowner.
4. Advised owners of various church denominations with high level roof repairs and provided fire safety and health and safety advice following quinquennial inspections, so they meet the required legislation.
5. Acting on full building surveys to identify potential defects and risks to assist clients purchasing properties.
