An accomplished Chartered Quantity Surveyor, Simon has over 30 years’ global experience delivering complex projects across multiple sectors. Simon’s skill in managing project costs has led to him creating numerous long-term client relationships and developing a very capable team of cost managers.

Simon has brought his experience and enthusiasm to Gateley Vinden and is focusing on its growth in size and reputation. He understands the importance of good client and design team relationships, is a good strategist and is always prepared to question relevant matters when they arise during the design process.

He will deliver a service that is personal and professional, through hands-on, day to day input on the project.

As well as a career in quantity surveying and commercial management, he has also acted or supported clients in the role of contract administrator and employer’s agent.

Experience

  1. Christian Dior, New Bond Street Store, London - Partial demolition, retained façade, redevelopment to white box and following on retail fit-out of this flagship retail store in the heart of Mayfair, giving 5,000 m2 of completed retail and shell apartment space.  Quantity surveying, cost management and contract administration support.
  2. Royal Mint Gardens, London - Luxury Residential Complex, 263 high-specification residential units with club and amenity facility over existing DLR / Network Rail tracks, located within close proximity to Tower Bridge; works consist of demolition to Network Rail viaduct and clearance of site, encapsulation of DLR tracks and construction of the residential units and support facilities.  Pre-contract quantity surveying and cost management.
  3. Springfield Hospital, South London - Redevelopment of Springfield University Hospital into two blocks of new, state-of-art inpatient facilities including non-forensic and a forensic building to the rear of the Grade II listed main building.  Garden areas are tailored to the specific requirements of the individual ward.  Pre-contract quantity surveying and cost management for Sir Robert McAlpine and Kajima, who were the successful consortium for the scheme.
  4. Bute Mews, Hampstead Garden Suburbs, London – 6 Three-bedroom mews houses with basements within a conservation area. Quantity surveying, cost management and contract administration.
  5. Hindu Temple, East Ham, London – Demolition of an existing public house and construction of an efficient modern temple. The project included rendered corbelled brickwork with elaborate finial carvings produced in-situ by Indian specialists. The project was on an open book basis through the JCT Cost Plus Contract.
