Charlotte qualified into the employment team in September 2024, having completed her training contract at Gateley Legal. She assists the employment teams nationwide but is primarily based in Manchester. She assists on all areas of employment law in addition to areas of business immigration law.

Charlotte assists with a variety of both contentious and non-contentious work. This includes advisory work on company policies and handbooks, disciplinary and grievance investigations, redundancy situations and settlement agreements. She also assists on corporate matters including by carrying out legal due diligence and drafting documentation for executive level employees such as bespoke service agreements.

Charlotte is quickly gaining experience in assisting on tribunal matters for clients who are industry leaders in sectors including retail and hospitality, engineering and healthcare. This includes complex claims involving multiple heads of claim e.g. discrimination, whistleblowing, victimisation, unfair dismissal and harassment. She has assessed the merits of claims in relation to issues including disability and jurisdiction issues and has assisted clients in drafting tribunal applications such as applications for strike out.

Experience

  1. Assisting in every stage of preparation for defending a claim including submitting grounds of resistance, drafting witness statements and preparing witnesses for hearings and negotiating settlements where required.
  2. Preparing for and representing clients at case management preliminary hearings.
  3. Assisting in drafting bespoke sexual harassment policies in the wake of recent changes to the law which created a new duty for employers to prevent sexual harassment.
  4. Helping to present client training sessions and preparing in depth resources and example case studies.
  5. Assisting in advising corporate clients with sponsored workers on their Sponsor Licence requirements and assisting in drafting skilled worker visas.
