Expertise

James works within the Infrastructure Development Team and has experience working on several large-scale Development Consent Orders (DCOs). James provides advice on all land matters including optioneering, acquisition, land agency and matters relating to compensation, helping the promoters of major infrastructure projects obtain development consent. He also has experience preparing DCO deliverables that include Schedules of Negotiation, Land Rights / Compulsory Acquisition Trackers, Land Plans, and Books of Reference.

James began his career at Gateley working within the GIS Team and therefore has experience with GIS software, databases and web applications. He has specific knowledge relating to the development and application of Gateley’s land referencing database and web application (METIS) for both internal and external purposes. He is now leading the development of METIS to accommodate the requirements of the Infrastructure Development and Land Access Teams.

Experience

  1. Successfully negotiating a number of voluntary acquisitions for the new rights required to construct and operate Gate Burton Energy Park.
  2. Leading the production of a Property Cost Estimate for a 1000+ property regeneration scheme. The Property Cost Estimate Report will be used by the housing developer and council to assist discussions with Homes England in order to secure the necessary funding for the scheme.
  3. Production of DCO deliverables that include Schedules of Negotiation, Land Rights / Compulsory Acquisition Trackers, Land Plans, and Books of Reference for several major infrastructure developments such as Gate Burton Energy Park, Immingham Green Energy Terminal, Viking CCS and Longfield Solar Farm.
  4. Creating technical drawings and plans through the use of ArcMap and AutoCAD for various DCO and CPO schemes in accordance with industry standards.
  5. Assisting in the development and migration of information onto Gateley’s land referencing database and web application (METIS) to support the Land Referencing of large-scale infrastructure project such as Viking CCS, Gate Burton Solar Farm, Immingham Green Energy Terminal, A358 and A27.
