Charity cycle ride returns to Cheshire

Cyclists will take to the roads of Cheshire on 20 June to help raise funds for UK cycling charity, Cycling Projects.

Amateur cyclists from across the county will join elite riders from UCI Women’s Cycling Team Drops to take on our annual cycling event – Tour de Gateley.

The 70 mile circular route starts and finishes at Roebuck Inn in Mobberley at 9am sweeping though Tittesworth Waters. There will be refreshments along the way and a buffet at the finish line.

Alongside the Drops cycling team, charity cyclists will also get to rub shoulders with elite triathlete Chantal Cummings, cyclist Josh Edmondson and retired Scottish rugby captain Colin Gregor, thanks to Gateley’s training partner Sandstone Communications.

“This is the second time we will be bringing Tour de Gateley to Cheshire,” said Emlyn Hudson, a partner and head of Gateley’s Construction team. “We can’t wait to see people out on the route cheering on the riders who are literally going that extra mile to fundraise for Cycling Projects.

“The course will test both experienced and novice cyclists, but the main aim is to raise money for a great cause while having fun in the company of fellow cyclists.”

Warrington-based Cycling Projects promotes cycling through a range of successful community engagement programmes giving people the opportunity to cycle on a regular basis. Ian Tierney, director at Cycling Projects, said: “Thanks to everyone who has signed up to take part in Tour de Gateley. Every penny raised will provide valuable funding to ensure we can continue our work and provide cycling to all.”
