The corporate, banking and restructuring advisory teams at Gateley Legal have been ranked the most active deal advisers nationally and in three regions of the UK for the first nine months of 2020, according to a report by Experian Market IQ.

The M&A Activity League table ranks each law firm by the volume of deals, and nationally, Gateley Legal maintained their position on top after completing 110 deals, followed by Harrison Clark Rickerbys at 96.

The group were ranked at number one in the North West with a total of 27 transactions, in London with a total of 33 deals, and in the Midlands with 43 transactions.

Notable deals that Gateley Legal have advised on during 2020 include Gymshark’s £1bn sale to General Atlantic, LDC’s £39.2m sale of Optimal Audio Group and Inspired PLC’s £11m acquisition of Ignite Energy and on £35m fundraising.

Tom Durrant, partner and head of the corporate team, commented: “To be ranked number one nationally and in three regions following such an uncertain and turbulent year makes this even more of an achievement.

“I’m really proud of the team for pulling together during these challenging times. We’ve remained busy in 2020 because our clients know that they can count on us to provide fantastic legal advice and a first-class service. Well done everyone.”
