We have advised on the launch of Ranger Fire and Security, backed by Hyperion Equity Partners, a mid-market PE investment firm that focuses on executing buy-and-build strategies through high quality management teams with proven resilient business models.

With the support of ThinCats, Hyperion’s platform launch of Ranger Fire and Security started with the acquisitions of Ignis Fire Protection and Amerex Fire International Limited. Midlands based Ignis Fire Protection Services (“Ignis”) was established in 2012 and specialises in fire detection and security systems. Amerex Fire International (“Amerex”), a family-run suppression business, operates nationally with a focus on maintenance and installation of vehicle suppression units and with a long- standing relationship with a key fire extinguisher distribution and service provider.

Ranger Fire and Security is led by a team of industry specialists and service business experts and are uniquely positioned to provide a best of breed platform to meet the full range of fire safety and security needs of corporates, public and third sector organisations.

The management team, composed of industry experts including CEO Mark Bridges, formerly CEO of Pimlico Plumbers and Domestic and General’s International CEO, and Managing Director Ian Teader (formerly national committee member of FSA and experienced operator within the fire and security industry), provides companies under the Ranger umbrella with access to specialist knowledge and experience.

Mark Bridges, CEO of Ranger Fire and Security, said: “Ranger aspires to not only be a collective entity but also a kitemark for high quality and reliability in the fire and security services industry. With the launch of Ranger, customers will benefit from the peace-of-mind that comes with knowing their fire and security requirements are being met by the best service providers in the industry that can be accessed all in one place.

“We are excited to welcome Ignis Fire Protection and Amerex Fire International to the team, and this is only the start. We are always looking to collaborate with fire and security entrepreneurs and businesses to whom we can offer support to help them scale in line with their ambitions, and we expect to announce more businesses joining our company very soon.

“We were really impressed by the support from Zum and her team. Launching Ranger and bringing the two businesses under one roof meant there were a number of moving parts to the deal. Hyperion had looked at over 150 different businesses as we were launching Ranger and the flexibility and the multi-disciplinary approach from the Gateley team was fundamental to our success. Gateley were always on the ball and delivered legal excellence throughout the journey.”

Our team was led by London corporate partner Zum Mohammed, assisted by Enes Ilgun, George de Stacpoole, Olivia Isbister and Alice Yarker. London banking partner Christopher Fanner led on the debt advisory with support of Niall Mahon.

Zum Mohammed, added: “We were delighted to have advised on both the launch of Ranger Fire and Security and the acquisitions of Ignis and Amerex. These inaugural acquisitions are just the first step in Hyperion’s and Ranger’s acquisition plans. We are excited to see the group establish itself as a leading player in the growing UK fire and security market.

This transaction was an excellent example of our ability to set up and launch a platform for our private equity clients whilst further adding to our already impressive roster of PE-backed ‘buy and build’ acquirers.”
