Our established Academy for Housebuilders is a free annual programme of workshop-style modules hosted by our residential development specialists.
How is the Academy structured?
The Academy is delivered over the course of 12 months, beginning in September to align with most housebuilders’ graduate intakes. This ensures that we can introduce those at the beginning of their careers in the housebuilding industry to the legal aspects of residential development.
We have continued to host the Academy throughout the COVID-19 pandemic by delivering modules virtually, and we will now continue to deliver the Academy through a combination of virtual and in-person sessions (if Government guidelines permit). Each module lasts approximately 4 hours either over the course of an afternoon (if in-person) or spread across a week in bitesize sessions (if delivered virtually).
What is covered?
The Academy follows the ‘lifecycle’ of a residential development site, guiding delegates through the legal process of buying land in easy and practical terms; from heads of terms all the way through to the last plot sales on-site and ensuring an effective exit for the housebuilder.
Who should attend?
We welcome all staff in our clients’ land, planning and technical teams but find that graduate recruits and those team members who are in the first few years of their career find the ‘back to basics’ overview that the Academy provides most useful.
