Dan has a wealth of experience in criminal law having previously worked as a trial advocate in a criminal defence firm before going on to work in the Crown Prosecution Service as a District Crown Prosecutor. He regularly represents clients in interviews under caution and through prosecution proceedings in a wide range of cases, from wildlife crime and driving offences to serious criminal charges including corporate manslaughter, health and safety, environmental, sexual assaults and fraud.
In addition to his advocacy skills in Court, Dan is also an accredited police station representative, known for remaining calm, under pressure and supporting clients through difficult and tricky interviews.
Dan’s previous employment history allows him to critically analyse cases from the outset and provide invaluable insights, ensuring the best possible outcomes for his clients.
Experience
- Acting for a client being investigated by the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority for operating without a licence, advising through the interview under caution process and drafting detailed representations to ensure no criminal charges were brought against the client.
- Advising a client after they were alleged to have committed serious wildlife crime offences and using previous experience as a prosecutor to secure a police caution and avoid a prosecution.
- Acting for a client charged with two offences of corporate manslaughter alongside health and safety offences. Assisting in preparing matter for trial and securing an acquittal on the corporate manslaughter offences.
- Advising a large corporate client in relation to alleged breaches of health and safety legislation, assisting in drafting and implementing new policies and draft detailed representations to avoid a prosecution.
- Assisting a large corporate client following a Home Office raid in relation to rights to work. Supporting the client through the investigation and ensuring the client was not prosecuted.
