Expertise
Avril provides a full range of employment advice to a variety of clients, from small companies to large multi-site UK-wide based companies. Many of the clients she works with are national household names in the retail and leisure industry. Avril also has strong expertise in the healthcare, veterinary and insurance sectors.
She has been involved in a number of projects for clients requiring detailed advice on a number of complex TUPE issues through to large scale restructure and redundancy projects. Avril has also led on projects involving a high number of employees to both change and harmonise terms and conditions.
Her advice also includes general day-to-day employee relations matters, senior executive exits, drafting contracts, policies and letters and representing clients in complex/high value employment claims.
Avril is also one Gateley Legal’s lead workplace investigators and is regularly instructed by clients in the private and public sector to conduct independent investigations. She was recently recognised by Legal 500 for regularly undertaking investigatory work on behalf of employees.

- Providing advice on a complex TUPE situation where a service contract was split on re-tender between different companies.
- Defending a complex unfair dismissal and whistleblowing claim worth over £1.5 million
- Advising on the closure of a large site resulting in over 100 redundancies
- Advising on a large-scale restructure involving over 200 employees
- Conducting an independent investigation into alleged discrimination and harassment against a senior executive
