Our Gateley Legal Northern Ireland and Gateley Capitus teams organised the inaugural Belfast Business Quiz event to raise money for two key local charities.

More than £2,000 was raised on the night with further donations still expected to come in. The charities set to benefit from the quiz are Air Ambulance Northern Ireland and TinyLife, Northern Ireland’s premature and vulnerable baby cause.

Held at the Ten Square Hotel in Belfast, there were 17 teams in total taking part, made up of clients, contacts and associates and friends from across the region.

Grace Williams, area fundraising manager for Air Ambulance NI, said: “It is such a pleasure to work with the team at Gateley and we are so grateful for their amazing support. As a service we rely heavily on charitable donations to keep the medical team in the air, delivering critical care to patients, who have suffered trauma throughout Northern Ireland – without continued support, the team simply couldn’t fly.

“Every single penny counts. With a daily fundraising need of £5,500, we are so grateful to the team at Gateley for this wonderful donation. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their continued, vital support and for organising such an amazing event – well done.”

Sean Conlon, head of fundraising & communications for TinyLife, added: “We were delighted to attend the Gateley charity quiz night and to be one of the two local charities benefitting from this fantastic event. It was great to see so many people coming together to create a wonderful atmosphere and to raise a huge amount of money. The money raised will go directly towards support TinyLife’s vital emotional and practical support services for babies born too soon, too small or too sick across Northern Ireland.”

Alison Reid, partner and office head of Gateley Legal in Northern Ireland, said: “The quiz was a resounding success in terms of enjoyment for those taking part as well as the amount of money raised for two fantastic local charities. It was also a great opportunity to meet up with our clients and colleagues for a social gathering and have some fun while helping these worthwhile causes.”

The team from Investec triumphed on the night after fighting off stiff competition with their knowledge on a range of topics, including music, film, culture, a picture round and general knowledge. Mortgage First brought up the rear as winners of the wooden spoon trophy.
