Advising Palatine on investment in Centrefield LLP
Insight shared by:
We have advised Palatine Private Equity on its investment in Centrefield LLP, a specialist sports and media law firm, supporting the next phase of the firm’s growth and international expansion.
Headquartered in Manchester, Centrefield is recognised as one of the UK’s leading sports law practices, advising governing bodies, clubs, agents, athletes and businesses operating across the global sports industry. Its clients include clubs across the Premier League, English Football League, Scottish Professional Football League and Major League Soccer in the US, among others. The investment will support the firm’s continued growth, including the expansion of its international reach and service offering.
Our team was led by Manchester corporate partner Leigh Whittaker, supported by Ffion Brumwell-Hughes, Katie Brown and Tom Haycock (corporate), Chris Lister, Katrina Groark and Beth Stephenson (banking), and Richard Clitherow and Rachel Palmer (tax).
This investment marks an exciting new chapter for Centrefield and reflects our confidence in both the strength of its market position and the opportunities ahead. Gateley provided commercially focused, practical advice throughout the transaction, drawing on the expertise of its corporate, banking and tax specialists to help deliver the deal efficiently. Their collaborative approach and understanding of private equity transactions made them a valuable part of the advisory team.
Leigh Whittaker added: “Centrefield has established an outstanding reputation within the sports sector and is well positioned to capitalise on growing opportunities in both the UK and international markets. We are delighted to have supported Palatine on this strategic investment and look forward to seeing Centrefield continue its impressive growth journey.”
