To mark World Environment Day, people in our Manchester office came together to plant seeds and create a shared herb garden in the office kitchens, giving everyone the opportunity to use fresh herbs or take cuttings home.

The initiative not only introduced a practical, sustainable feature into the workplace, but also encouraged our people to think differently about how small, everyday choices can contribute to a more environmentally conscious culture.

Reflecting this year’s theme of ending plastic pollution, people donated plastic planting pots for the session, demonstrating how simple reuse can form part of a more circular approach to resources. By repurposing materials that would otherwise go to waste, the activity reinforced the value of making more sustainable choices in day-to-day actions.

This initiative encouraged more sustainable habits while also supporting wellbeing, collaboration and a shared sense of responsibility across the team. Through simple, hands-on activities like this, our people are helping to embed sustainability into the way we work.
