Double delight for Gateley Legal at Birmingham Legal Awards 2024
Our Birmingham office is celebrating after winning a brace of awards at the Birmingham Law Society Legal Awards 2024.
We were awarded the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Award for demonstrating excellence in promoting EDI within the business and the wider legal community which has included, amongst others, launching a dedicated group to support and champion black talent across the legal profession and successfully partnering with Birmingham Law Society, Forage and Ahead Partnership to provide mentoring, careers advice and work experience opportunities for aspiring young lawyers from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Drew Wilson was also crowned Trainee Solicitor of the Year. Since joining Gateley Legal in 2022, Drew has played a leadership role in supporting and championing local Black talent across the legal profession with her active involvement in Birmingham Black Lawyers. She is also an active member of Birmingham Law Society’s Race, Ethnicity and Cultural Heritage (REACH) network which works to widen access to the profession as well as being a mentor to Black secondary school and university students through the Tyro Lawyer’s mentoring scheme and the University of Law’s mentoring scheme.
