Expertise

Ollie recently graduated from Durham University with a first-class degree in business and management with a placement year. He first joined Gateley Global in August 2022 as part of his year in industry and continued to work at the company whilst in his final year of studies.

When Ollie joined Gateley Global he joined the programme management office team delivering the Cambridge & Peterborough Combined Authority’s £30m Growth Works Programme, which carried out 5 distinct business growth streams for companies in the CPCA region: Inward investment, equity, growth coaching, grants, & skills.

When in this role, other than carrying out day-to-day operational activities, Ollie led the finances on this programme, supporting companies in the region receive grant funding and ensuring the appropriate use of public funds. He also led the management of our customer relationship management tool for this programme, creating efficiency in our business engagement and, at programme end, making sure that the CPCA had a fully-fledged pipeline of companies that it could use to carry out business support.

In this programme, Ollie also undertook the role of equity analyst, providing due diligence that matched the clients risk appetite for companies looking for funding, as well as creating the business cases for these companies to receive equity investment from the Cambridge & Peterborough Combined Authority.

Ollie is now the senior analyst for the high growth accelerator programme, once again helping manage the day-to-day operations and delivery of this programme. This programme is supporting 50 high growth companies in the West Midlands region overcome their barriers to growth with the aim to create jobs, investment, and greater upskilling in the region. He led the lead generation of this programme compiling lists of potential targets, whilst also leading the due diligence process, ensuring the companies that were onboarded were appropriate for the programme.

He has also supported the creation of software tools that benefit both our private and public clients; he helped develop Gately Mint, which helps companies expanding into the UK with getting a UK business bank account, as well as supporting the creation of Gateley Endeavour which provided Invest New South Wales with a digital map of New South Wales companies that are in the UK.

With the work he has carried out since he joined, coupled with modules taken whilst studying, Ollie has gained proficiency in data analysis, working with Excel and more specialised quantitative software such as SPSS. This expertise has been used in strategic reviews of inward investment programmes and reviewing business support needs for public sector clients.
