In August 2026, the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) introduced amendments to its Prescribed Company (PC) Regulations 2022, proposing a fundamental transformation of the regime.
In light of increasing interest in the DIFC for wealth structuring vehicles, the DIFC has introduced the Prescribed Companies Regulations 2026 (2026 PC Regulations) which opens up PCs (interchangeably used with the term ‘special purpose vehicles’ (SPVs)) to any client looking to establish a private limited company with the activity of holding company.
This reform has direct and material implications for cross-border global asset structuring, private wealth structuring and family offices, positioning DIFC SPVs as a primary vehicle for modern wealth planning strategies.
