Jake is a chartered structural engineer whose works is split between insurance defect diagnosis and private/ commercial structural design.

How do you help clients?

I help a wide range of clients from insurance companies and loss adjusters to private homeowners with defect specific structural issues. I also work on private and commercial structural design jobs that range from residential extensions to industrial mezzanines.

Experience

1. Designed a mezzanine floor structure to provide additional work spaces for offices and to help soundproof the factory below.
2. Designed a new build property from architectural drawings.
3. Managed a subsidence job from structural report stage all through the different site investigations to determine the cause and rectify it.
4. Gave a second opinion on a redesign of a roof terrace structure that was proposed by a third party to be designed in heavy duty steel work. I was able to prove that the structure was easily justifiable in timber and the steel proposed was a clear overdesign.
5. Designed a temporary repair for a roof structure so that the client could spend Christmas in their property before the major repairs.
