Chris mainly deals with professional negligence (issues arising out of insolvency, solicitors and financial services in particular) and complex commercial disputes. He also specialises in contentious probate/inheritance claims and develops the firm’s practice in this field.
Chris has practised in criminal defence, employment, personal injury (former member of a personal injury panel) and employment litigation over the last 25 years in Leicester; a collection of experience invaluable in delivery of the range of his practice and particular specialism’s now.
Recovery at mediation in October 2010 in £1.2 million claim for national lender against negligent solicitors and third parties in a sovereign state. Principle issue was the inviolability from litigation of a diplomatic mission, with a very substantial confidential settlement achieved.
Recovery in December 2009 of agency commissions at £1.6 million upon Angolan supply contract.
Acted for the taxpayer in the leading case of Jones -v- Garnett (Arctic Systems Limited) 2007; HMRC’s defeat in the House of Lords exposed HMRC to lost revenue in excess of £1 billion.
