Samuel is a chartered surveyor working within the infrastructure and utilities sectors. Sam has nearly five years of experience specialising in areas such as land strategy, CPO, statutory noticing, acquisition and compensation matters, whilst working primarily with utility and infrastructure clients such as Yorkshire Water, Severn Trent Water, United Utilities and National Grid. 

How do you help clients?

I help clients by advising and delivering on land strategy for schemes where access is required for essential infrastructure delivery. This may come in the form of handling complex negotiations for a licence agreement, drafting heads of terms for a deed of easement or reviewing and putting forward recommendations for compensation claims submitted by agents supporting landowners, occupiers or other third parties.

Experience

1. Successfully negotiated deed of easement HoTs for a new outfall discharge in Burnley on behalf of a local utility provider as part of a wider pipeline scheme.
2. Following an extended consultation period, I agreed a set of terms for a compound licence in Merseyside to assist the construction of a new detention tank to add resilience to the local sewerage system.
3. Drafted and served statutory access notices for the construction of a new pumping station, housing kiosk and connecting pipeline in arable land near Shrewsbury following consultation with the landowner over the preferred location.
4. Negotiated and agreed a global compensation figure with a third-party agent for damages caused by a burst pipe and the subsequent reinstatement works.
5. Reviewed existing access rights and then consulted and agreed land access to private land for the maintenance of existing electricity towers.
