We have advised Storage World Limited and Paul Fahey on the sale of two self-storage sites in Manchester to Shurgard Self Storage Limited (Shurgard), Europe’s largest provider of self-storage solutions.

The transaction included: (i) the disposal by Storage World of a fully operational site in central Manchester, which has been serving customers since 2013; and (ii) the disposal by Paul Fahey of a second site currently under construction in east Manchester. The site under construction is expected to open by the end of 2026. Together, the sites will add approx. 13,200m2 of net lettable area to Shurgard’s UK portfolio.

Gateley Legal’s corporate team was led by partner and Corporate Platform head Charles Glaskie, supported by solicitor Harry Davies. Gateley Legal also worked closely alongside Tonina Mycock and Matthew Robinson at Knights who advised Storage World and Paul Fahey on property matters.

These sales reflect the quality of our assets and operations and we’re confident that Shurgard will benefit from these sites going forward. We’re also confident that we can continue to trade strongly from our other sites in Greater Manchester. Charles Glaskie was instrumental in guiding us through the sales process. His experience, responsiveness and ability to anticipate challenges gave us real confidence. The teams from Gateley and Knights worked seamlessly to deliver a smooth transaction, and we’re grateful for their expertise and commitment.
Paul Fahey

Charles Glaskie added: “We’re delighted to have advised Storage World and Paul Fahey on this pair of disposals. I have worked with Paul Fahey now on a number of self-storage deals. He is a highly impressive entrepreneur with a wealth of sector expertise and it’s been a pleasure to work with him again.”
