Our Newcastle-based engineering team is celebrating success after receiving a hat-trick of shortlistings at Insider’s North East Young Professionals Awards 2025.

The Newcastle engineering team has been recognised as a collective for the ‘Young Professional Team of the Year’ award.

In addition to the team’s shortlisting, chartered engineer Jake McGee has been shortlisted in the ‘Young Property/ Construction Professional of the Year’ category, whilst graduate structural engineer Dominik Bodinger has been announced as a finalist for the ‘Young Apprentice/ Graduate of the Year’ accolade.

Organised by regional business publication Insider Media and now in its fourth year, the awards showcase the best young professional talent across the region and shine a light on their outstanding achievements within their respective industries.

Ken Porter, engineering director at Gateley Smithers Purslow, said: “Spearheaded by Mark Campbell, our Newcastle engineering team has had a phenomenal year, delivering outstanding teamwork and technical expertise to delight existing clients and win new instructions. They also work hard to support the development of junior team members with our internal chartership training programme, as well as contributing to responsible business initiatives, and it’s brilliant to see them recognised for all their efforts. Alongside the team’s success, both Jake and Dominik have really shone in their roles, and I’m pleased to see them shortlisted in their respective categories too.”

The winners for all 9 categories will be announced at a gala black-tie dinner held at the Hilton Newcastle on Thursday 4 December 2025.
