Alan is an experienced Chartered Building Surveyor with over 20 years in the industry. He has expertise in residential and commercial property sectors, advising property owners and insurer clients on all building surveying disciplines including contract administration, defect diagnosis, party wall, planned maintenance, reinstatement, development and refurbishment works.

How do you help clients?

In my capacity at GSP I seek to work closely with property owners, insurers, developers and commercial clients to provide clear, practical advice across the built environment. My role focuses on identifying risks, resolving complex building issues and delivering effective solutions that protect both property assets and client interests.

I enjoy helping clients throughout the lifecycle of a building, from investigation and diagnosis of defects to managing repair, refurbishment and reinstatement projects. By combining strong technical knowledge with a pragmatic approach, I help clients make informed decisions, manage costs and minimise disruption.

Experience

1. Undertaken building pathology survey works on insurance-related damage and complex property claims, providing detailed assessments and clear reporting that enable clients to understand the cause of issues and the most appropriate route to resolution. 
2. Prepared robust schedules of works and specifications for reinstatement and refurbishment projects for a range of clients; also undertaken the tender and contract administration duties for the projects ensuring the projects are delivered in accordance with the contract terms within the set parameters. 
3. Undertaken professional services for a range of clients relating to planned preventative maintenance surveys along with technical due diligence survey works and quinquennial inspections.
