Expertise
Elena specialises in international arbitration, commercial litigation and multi-jurisdictional fraud and asset recovery work. She is also qualified as a Solicitor Advocate, having obtained Higher Rights of Audience (Civil).
Elena has acted for clients in the petrochemical, energy and chemical engineering sectors both in High Court proceedings and in international arbitrations. She has experience in all stages of Court proceedings from pre-action through to trial and appeals as well as dealing with a range of interim applications.
Her recent experience includes acting for a foreign government in respect of high value and complex fraud claims arising out of the insolvency of a number of financial institutions.
Elena is a bilingual English and Russian speaker with reading skills in Ukrainian and German.
Experience
- Acting for foreign trustees in bankruptcy in applications pursuant to Art. 15 and 19 of the Cross-Border Insolvency Regulations;
- Advising a distributor client in a high value claim for breach of a non-disclosure agreement and patent infringement against a prominent, US-domiciled petrochemical company and its international subsidiaries;
- Advising an overseas energy company on the validity of an arbitration clause in power supply agreement;
- Acting for a shareholder of a well-known UK hotel consortium in an LCIA arbitration;
- Acting for a real estate developer in a complex fraud claim valued at £64 million
