James has experience in the residential construction industry, working as a site manager for both PLC and SME businesses since 2005. He has a detailed understanding of construction programming and extensive knowledge of traditional build, timber frame, Passivhaus and refurb. Throughout the course of his construction career, he has become skilled at problem-solving at pace within residential development and has developed an excellent communication style to ensure he is able to get optimum results with all stakeholders.
James is known for his ability to take on extremely challenging sites, such as major infrastructure diversions, as well as transforming sites where performance has slipped due to ineffective management, getting projects back on track and performing at a high level.
In his current role as clerk of works, James is responsible for ensuring high quality standards are being met on site, whilst representing the clients’ interests. This is achieved through thorough inspections, regular site progress reports and collaborating with site teams to ensure that any potential issues are highlighted as early as possible during the construction process to ensure the plots are defect free at handover.
How do you help clients?
I help clients by ensuring the product and specification they require has been met by the developer at each stage. In order to achieve this, I regularly attend site and undertake site inspections to ensure that the plots of a high-quality standard, identifying any issues immediately and clearly reporting back to both the client and developer.
I help clients through my extensive knowledge and experience of residential developments, and I am able to provide realistic and evidenced based updates to clients, to allow them to effectively manage their portfolios and budgets.
I help clients with my in-depth understanding of the life cycle of construction projects and can often easily identify issues and support site teams with potential resolutions to mitigate risk. I also attend project meetings when needed to provide input in my capacity as clerk of works, and to provide honest and candid feedback when suitable.
