Expertise

Jonny is a senior quantity surveyor at Gateley RJA where he works alongside and manages a team of employer’s agents. Jonny works across a range of affordable housing schemes with both pre- and post- contract experience. His practice focuses on providing strategic advice on cost management, contract administration, and risk management to clients primarily in the residential sector.

Jonny acts as the principal point of contact with the project client and the other consultants in the design team, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget while maintaining compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.

Prior to joining Gateley RJA, Jonny previously worked for a main contractor working on a multimillion-pound retirement village.

How do you help clients?

I work with clients to deliver projects on time and within their budget, whilst identifying opportunities for value engineering.

Experience

  1. Advising on claiming liquidated damages (LADs) for plots which were handed over past their longstop date, to recuperate the potential lost earnings from renting out the plots.
  2. Carrying out a tender analysis to advise a client on the best option for a new contractor on a scheme where the previous contractor went into administration.
  3. Contesting Part M compliance and ensuring the main contractor rectified the works, including incorrect switch/ socket heights, level access into the property and ensuring the parking bays were a sufficient size.
  4. Value engineering – reducing the quoted instruction cost for flooring to the shared ownership units by breaking down the m2 rate for carpet and vinyl installation and presenting a lower cost proposal, saving the client approximately £25,000 on the original quote.
  5. Assessing and providing feedback on contractors cashflow forecasts to ensure the client maintains a healthy cash flow.
