Our specialist clerks of works are expert quality inspectors and work closely with the contractor to ensure high standards of construction are maintained throughout the development process.
Mike Weingaertner, one of our senior clerk of works, gives us an insight into a typical day:
“Today I have two Site Progress Reports to carry out and four initial snags to undertake at a site in Peterborough for which we are instructed on behalf of two separate clients. Our Site Progress Reports show progress of the build and document any issues we find. We dictate our findings and changes through to the dedicated admin team who then type up our reports and distribute accordingly.
I carried out the initial snags to four plots. This process is to make sure that the product received at handover stage is to the standard we are happy with and meets the expectations of our client. It also helps raise any defects or potential defects and rectifies them ready for when the residents move in.
There are numerous ways to snag, and each person has their own preference. The list of possible items is endless, and all items raised we will list down or dictate and send through to our admin team. They will then type up the snag lists and distribute once all plots have been snagged for the day. Once received I will review the sheets and ensure I have them ready for the second visit where we will carry out a back snag.”
