We have appointed London-based commercial technology specialist and partner, Prakash Kerai, to support our growing commercial and technology practice.
Prakash joins the Intellectual Property and Commercial Technology (IPCT) team to advise and support clients on commercial contracts and technology arrangements, including FinTech, blockchain, and digital assets.
Partner and head of our IPCT team Andrew Rankin said: “Prakash’s appointment is an investment by the business in its technology law practice and adds further depth to our practice in this area.
“His in-depth expertise across fields such as FinTech, digital assets, and blockchain technologies perfectly complements our existing capabilities. I have known Prakash for many years, and I am confident that his wealth of technology law and commercial experience will prove invaluable.”
Richard Healey, partner and head of our London office, added: “We continue to invest in our London office and Prakash’s appointment is one of many for our team in London this year.
“London remains one of the world’s capitals for technology, finance, and legal services. With Prakash on board, we can continue to build a strong portfolio of clients within these and other sectors for which the capital is internationally renowned.”
Formerly a partner at Shoosmiths LLP, Prakash has advised on technology and FinTech arrangements since starting his career, with his legal expertise spanning all forms of technology, including software, hardware, data, and related services.
Prakash was recently re-elected to techUK’s Financial Services Council, and also appointed as its co-chair, where he, alongside other council members, tackles issues pertaining to financial services and technology.
“I am very excited to have joined Gateley Legal and to support the team in building its technology sector practice,” Prakash said. “Gateley Legal has a very strong reputation and is known for being forward-thinking and innovative. I look forward to bringing my own expertise to the team so that we can enhance Gateley Legal’s services further.”
