Expertise

Craig is a Chartered Building Surveyor with over 10 years’ experience in surveying, having started his career within the energy and retrofit sector before moving into commercial consultancy surveying where he achieved membership of the RICS in 2022. 

He has experience in all areas of building surveying with a keen interest in building pathology and traditionally constructed listed buildings.

Craig joined Gateley Smithers Purslow in 2025, providing building surveying and project management roles for a range of commercial and domestic clients.

How do you help clients?

I help clients recover from peril-related loss by providing clear technical advice and managing the reinstatement process on their behalf. 

I enjoy helping clients navigate the complexities of insurance claims and working collaboratively with insurers and contractors to deliver practical solutions that restore their properties efficiently and to a high standard.

Experience

1. Providing design, contract administration, and CDM principal designer services on numerous insurance reinstatement, refurbishment and grant funded common fabric repair schemes.
2. Undertaking reinstatement cost assessments of commercial and residential properties to aid clients in ensuring levels of insurance cover are sufficient.
3. Completing schedules of dilapidations on commercial properties and successfully negotiating quantified demands.
4. Providing pre-acquisition and due diligence surveys for commercial and residential properties.
5. Undertaking planned preventative maintenance programmes for educational and healthcare clients across the country.
