Lara is a dual-qualified (England & Wales/Türkiye) disputes lawyer. Prior to joining Gateley Legal, she has worked in a leading disputes boutique based in Istanbul/Turkiye. She has advised and assisted clients on a wide range of disputes, including international investment and commercial arbitrations and commercial litigations before Turkish courts. She has experience in different industries including construction, energy, telecommunications, defence, restaurant and automotive. She has also experience in white-collar crime prosecutions with cross-border aspects.
Experience
- Acting on a high-value Singapore-seated international arbitration relating to a post-acquisition adjustment of consideration under an SPA.
- Acting on a shipping dispute in under the LMAA rules seated in London.
- Acted for Turkish investors in numerous Investment Treaty arbitrations under the ICC rules against a foreign state for claims arising out of the Arab Spring.
- Acted for a construction company in several multiparty ICC arbitrations relating to claims under an EPC Subcontract and a JV agreement, and the settlement thereof, in a project carried out by the Turkish Ministry of Health.
- Represented a Turkish construction company for the enforcement of an arbitral award against a sovereign before Turkish courts.
