Expertise

Andrew is a Chartered Building Surveyor with over 25 years’ experience in the construction industry and has provided advice to clients in both the UK and overseas. Prior to joining Gateley Smithers Purslow, Andrew managed the Building Surveying department in a muti-disciplinary engineering consultancy firm in the East of England.

His extensive experience spans a number of sectors including insurance, education, healthcare, research, residential, industrial, commercial and conservation, assisting clients on a variety of design, technical, legal and building pathology commissions.

How do you help clients?

I am often approached for assistance with complex problems or where there are matters of technical or legal dispute. I can help clients by analysing the issues and providing clear and concise guidance to aid resolution.

Experience

  1. Lead role in a multi-disciplinary commission for a Sinking Fund review of a landmark civic building.
  2. Advising a client on matters of dispute under the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 in connection with a large residential scheme in a congested City centre site.
  3. Leading a team of surveyors and engineers in connection with a due diligence report for a sports centre acquisition.
  4. Project management and technical advice for a Housing Association client in respect to claims against a warranty provider relating to defects to a number of non-traditional dwellings.
  5. Design team leader for a scheme involving demolition and re-building of a number of dwellings on a housing estate damaged by fire.
