Ben is a Chartered Structural Engineer (Civil Engineering Degree) with over 20+ years of varied construction experience, working on and managing the structural and civil engineering design of retail, commercial, residential, student accommodation hospitality, healthcare and nuclear projects across the UK, Europe, the USA and Canada.

Ben’s experience has involved new build projects, repair/ retrofit of existing buildings, conservation of historic structures, foundation, land remediation, road pavement, bridge and drainage designs.

Ben has detailed knowledge of most construction typologies including but not limited to: masonry, concrete, timber, volumetric modular, panelised and ICF.

How do you help clients?

I help clients with my significant experience in forensic structural surveys and the specification of repairs.  

I have acted for both client and contractor in dispute resolution and have previously acted as expert witness.

Experience

1. Assisted as part of a wider design team to achieve local authority approval for the first high rise volumetric modular hotel in NYC.
2. Assisted a contractor in a planning dispute, acting as expert witness, to achieve permission for demolition and re-build of a dilapidated building structure.
3. Worked with a developer to achieve Code for sustainable homes Level 5 for their new build development using innovative building construction methods.
4. Worked with a contractor to remediate a highly contaminated building plot, enabling successful completion of the new build development.
5. Provided engineering advice to allow strengthening and vertical extension of an existing building asset to maximise building value.
