Gemma is a Senior Associate within the construction team at Gateley Legal. She acts for a range of clients including housebuilders, developers, contractors, insurers and property owners in all aspects of dispute resolution including adjudication, mediation, court proceedings and judicial review.

Gemma is an experienced litigator advising both claimants and defendants across a broad range of areas relating to construction disputes relating to payment, defects and delays and commercial contract disputes.

She provides legal advice and support from the very early pre-action stages of litigation to enforcement following trial or settlement.

How do you help clients?

I assist clients in resolving their disputes in a cost effective and pro-active manner, with a keen focus on settling disputes by alternative dispute resolution.

Experience

1. Acting for a national housebuilder relating to a contractor’s breach of contract following the unlawful movement of material. We successfully managed to resist the contractor’s three attempts at adjudication.
2. Advising a national housebuilder in relation to the termination of a contractor’s employment to ensure it was done compliantly.
3. Advising an insurer following a complex dispute that had arisen in relation to who was the correct insurer for a development where duplicate certificates existed. A settlement was achieved at mediation.
