Jake is a construction and engineering lawyer with over five years’ experience advising on both contentious and non-contentious matters. He qualified at a City firm in 2022 and has also worked in-house at an international construction consultancy, giving him a deep understanding of the sector.

Jake helps clients manage risk on construction and engineering projects by drafting and negotiating contracts, advising on issues throughout the project lifecycle, and resolving disputes efficiently.

Experience

  1. Drafting and negotiating standard form construction contracts, including JCT, NEC, MF/1 and FIDIC, as well as bespoke agreements, consultant appointments, collateral warranties, bonds, guarantees and letters of reliance, etc.
  2. Supporting clients throughout the project lifecycle by providing advice on project distress issues, such as: delay, extensions of time, loss and expense, liquidated damages, valuation issues, defective works and insolvency. 
  3. Advising employers, developers, contractors and funders on dispute resolution, including court proceedings, adjudication, arbitration and mediation.
